I'm going to de-couple vBadvanced and vBulletin, as we're not using those features and it over complicates things.

I'm also going to upgrade vBulletin to the very latest, as we're about to run out of support so I'd like to catch up.

Since we're about out of support, I'm about out of ability to download modules (easily). So... what do we want, anything new?

How about a single payer system? I nominate Mash.

suuure... now you claim that.

i think what vbulletin folks are doing is extortion and wrong, so i don't think we should give them money. plain and simple.

Whatever, Mister Confirmation Bias. Who cares about extortion if MASH is paying? The guy collects Titanic Tea pots or something. He won't miss it. He might have to lay off a butler, but who cares. He has four.

I would not call that painless, but vbdrupal (i misspoke above) has been severed. It'll be fully ripped out soon as I am confident things work as expected. and figure out whassup with where the menu should be over there.

the menu was vbdrupal...but... either it should have a menu or not be empty space in cleanblue. grr.

shoutbox was part of vbdrupal, it seems. grr. what else we lose?

It feels ghetto now :(

But if you say it's extortion then I'm fine with fighting the man

It is a little ghetto, isn't it?

Tonight I'm going to try and upgrade vb if I can (may not have time), and then tomorrow I'll be able to focus on getting features back that we lost.

it is somewhat extortion, but mostly it just pisses me off. in either case, not being dependent on TWO pieces of software to upgrade for each other is a huge win... much much simpler, and with the exception of the menu and the shoutbox, it was all for features we didn't use.

This feels weird, I never actually went to the forums. I just used that updated thread thingy. Feels like I'm on an internet safari!

It does look kinda odd, but I never really used the Sidebar stuff anyway. I'm not a big fan of charged for crap we don't use.

On a positive not, with the sidebars gone, we can post larger pics to the Alba thread and not have to hScroll them :)

The stuff I removed was the free stuff. vbulletin is the $ stuff. i want a menu back with all the forum sections on it... just my $.02.

Funny I just bookmarked the forums and just noticed the change.

Do we need to help pay for anything Chris?

right now--no. I think we can make a decision later if we want to upgrade and buy a license then--it won't cost us any more than if we did it right now, and i've already downloaded the latest 3.5 (which we run) and the new 4.0 which I will try a dev site upgrade for...

but thanks for asking!

That same thought occurred to me as well...:whistling:

It would be nice to still be able to see who's browsing the forums. (well I guess that's still at the bottom of the main page.)

It seems downright snappy to me, at least. Better than before.

Anyway, I just saw that vbimagehost wasn't working right... anyone see anything else? They are fairly easy fixes -- usually I just didn't move some file or another over... so please let me know what isn't working right!

I had to remove the Curves theme...it was seriously messed up for some reason. Beyond my ability to fix... if anyone has other recommended themes please let me know!
