Well I recently baught a ridicilous new computer, and I have been jonesing to play this game that apparently no one plays. I havnt really played much, my name is _Lowrider in the game I believe. I'll be on the look out for you guys. We gotta get something going!

Hey all
I pre ordered 2 copies of ET QW and wish I had spent the money on beer!
I've never been so disappointed with a game.
I found the learning curve way too steep and every time I joined a server it was full of hotshots that had been playing the advance copy for three months, they knew every move and place to go, all I did was die exiting the spawn over and over.
Not much fun at all.
So I gave up and may never play it again.
anyone want a never opened collector's edition?


I play old ET on >B< Bunker #1 or pick up a game of BFs on the VSF teamspeak now and then.

Hmmmm, what servers do you play on and what have been your primary frustrations? What classes did you play? Other than the deployables, I haven't found it to be too much of a stretch from W:ET and RTCW. Then again, I played the beta for > 3 months ;)

BTW, the 1.4 patch added a training mode, where you can walk through the maps with bots in Play Computer mode

I played BETA 1, BETA 2, and the Demo... and I hated it... Still, I had the game pre-ordered, and I bought the whole game with a gift card I had. My recommendation for people starting out... The first huge difference is the team you're on. Play the computer real quick and figure out which team you like better. Learn that one first.
A class that is always helpful for your team is the Constructor/Engineer. You put a deployable down, plant some mines, repair stuff, and you get the plasma launcher/grenade launcher. This is a great weapon for newer players... I hate it to death, but it provides you with a means to do big damage on vehicles camping you, and you still have your lacerator/assault rifle to fire close range. The downside is you won't have aim down the site for longer ranges.
If you want to avoid vehicles all together... Play Salvage or Volcano... There are no heavy/medium vehicles on those maps.
If you want to use vehicles... I'd get in the APC or the Hog to start out with.

Another recommendation... Ranked servers: The teams are almost always stacked because people want their stats to look nice. Either try to get on the stacked team (lame tactic in my oppinion), or play on some unranked servers/against the computer first.

Too many bugs in 1.4 (Like my deployable kills, and malfunctioned EMP grenades :P)... Looking forward to 1.5... I thought the comp mod was beyond the testing stage, but they ran into legalities... Do you have an inside scoop on what the patch is fixing, and such Iffy?

I'm not too sure that a comp mod is going to save the community... The game is too spammy with vehicles allowed, and the maps aren't designed for infantry only... Even with all the restrictions they put on gameplay in comp, to the spammer goes the spoils... Poor game design in my oppinion. (I miss RTCW).

Is the 1.5 patch decent? It is too bad they (SD) have to jump through so many hoops with activision and id etc. to release an update.

Looking at the changelog it doesn't seem like anything was changed that makes it when you see a bad guy and put your dot on his head and shoot that he gets hit in the head - which is my main problem. ;/

1.4 was better in pray and spray situations in that my gun was facing towards you and there wasn't a couple that went impossibly up 20°. Sometimes it felt like they made a couple go backwards out of the barrel :)

Crouched and still, no swaying gun, no swinging should hit THAT spot - at least on the first bullet/strogg juice. If they want to have super mega spread in the quake future thats cool - but the first shot out of a gun should be the most accurate if I adjusted my sights correctly in GDF training school - shouldn't be random from the get go.

The gun fire is mediocre at best. This game, I have missed full bursts when my xhair has been right on people. It's ridiculous.

That is to say you even get into a gun fight. To do so you have to spawn outdoors, avoid getting camped by vehicles, snipers, and turrets and also avoid being bombarded by artillary and airstrikes. Once you make it inside you must be weary of 1,000,000,000 mines, and corner camping soldiers w/ heavy weapons. If you're lucky enough to make it by them, you're going to find yourself getting grenades thrown at you (since people can launch them all the way across the map). So you make it by all that and find yourself 3v1... You really can't win 3v1s like you could in RTCW. Synopsis: ET:QW SPAM FTL. That is why I tank :D

hey if u guys are still playing this ill reinstall it, i kind thought it just died in this community and have had better games to play recently.
The fact is i miss our nights with the vsf guys we need to kick start some gaming man.
The best way to catch people is to get on ts and find out what we are all playing.
ill be on ts tonight, depends on what we are playing but ill reinstall so its on if we do play som qwet tonight .
