Wise-guy answers aside, this was the premiere weekend for the Forgotten Hope 2 mod, Iffy.

Most of the fools that normally seed the TF2 servers have been playing FH2.

Pfffft. Fix your heat issue and you'll see it's a different game.

Um ... you did go in and change the video settings after installing it, right? They reset to bare minimum upon install.
