Steam update get it fast, you won't be sorry at all.

I just couldn't resist the "Install Steam Update?". Now it opens hundreds probably thousands of connections when started. I turned steam off when it got to 630+ but if you want to see how your router handles these things it is a good benchmarking tool now :)

The HTTP connections are a seperate system that didn't change in yesterdays update. A number of HTTP connections are made at startup to retrieve some application data, but they should not cause a performance problem. The problem with yesterdays update as that the Server Browser would try to refresh the entire list even when you did not open it."
