Please post here if you would like changes made to the layout, options, modules, etc... examples would be for new skins, new blocks on the sidebars, etc... Also post here if you find errors (I've combined them).

OPEN ISSUES
- List TS/Ventrilo info
- Randomly pick one of our top posters and set post count to -1000
- IMG tags in sigs not working--at least not dynamic URLs. [sigpic] doesn't help either.
- Not all smilies are here
- vBImageHost only works with default theme
- Images loading from .org and not .com
- No chat
- Styles not sticky (http://www.vsfgamers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23748)
- user customization of interface to move blocks

COMPLETED:
- Changed priv message limit to 500 per RTG suggestion.
- Enabled Private Messages for all users (it's on for new users, but the conversion didn't set it by default).
- Moved announcement info (server ips) from old site.
- Set everyone to be visible when browsing (can be changed in profile)
- Cannot POST... fixed by setting the .com as the default site.
- Raised avatar max size to 150k
- Add game-monitor stats to server ip announcement
- "POST request originating from this domain" (vB has a setting for this)
- Sort out ranks & such
- DNS issues
- DHTML search drop-down
- Move name/avatar to side of post
- Move blocks to left side
- animated avatars
- No shoutbox

CAN'T FIX
- Avatars did not convert. Sorry. I don't think I can fix this.
- Login on front page doesn't work -- can't fix w/o breaking .net/.org/.us

Uh, can you increase the mailbox size? My 113 of 50 allowed messages came over fine, but until I get below 50 total (sent/received) I can't send a PM. :(

Also, is there a way to change the thread view so the posters name/avatar are over on the left instead of at the top of the post?
This would allow for larger, more annoying avatars. ;)

Just wondering....

Also, fyi, browsing "invisibly" appears to be the default.

Raised the limit to 500.

darn- and I just went and deleted all my old posts to get down under the limits :(

We need some of our more artistic users to develop some custom skins.

so far its a toss up between the default skin and bo20.

The default has too much space in the margins and borders around the sections of the system.

The text in the bo20 skin seems to be a little washed out. The margins and borders are reduced but they are still a little too large for my tastes.

oh yeah, need major help with skins!

I'm glad to see you culled the members with 0 posts.

As long as stub and CPT made the cut, that's all that matters. :D

http://www.vsfgamers.org/forum/memberlist.php

VSF Gamers Forum: Members List Showing results 1 to 50 of 241

If you sort by post ascending, you'll see the fewest number of posts is 10.

Theres an option to only display people with posts over 0 in the memberlist, they are still there though.

huh. Weird. I don't recall checking/unchecking (or even seeing) that . . .

Still not a bad idea, though. ;)

It's somewhere in the ACP, I don't where exactly. There are a million options though, it takes time to find all of them :)

Another 'interesting' default is that PMs are DISABLED.

Forgive the double post, but is there any way to resurrect the old portal page for announcements, IP addresses, etc?

umm... maybe.

Let me see what I can do.

Can it be possible to move the calendar/buddy list/online users over to the right side?
Or better still can it be set somehow so I can choose whether I want to display them at all?
I really don't care about seeing the calendar and the buddy list all the time.
(Yes, I know I can "minimize" them but they still take up two inches of screen space for those of us not running 1900xridiculous resolution.)

Just wondering,

I checked, and it's not possible in vBadvanced (which gives us those blocks) to have them user-selectable. Kinda sucks--browsed on the laptop instead of my big screen and saw how smushed the forums are :(

I can definitely move them around and get rid of a column... either left or right...

We could do a few things to solve space issues:
- remove buddy list entirely
- remove search (link in top nav bar)
- move all blocks to left or right, in order:
- navigation
- support
- online users
- calendar

But what about new modules?
- shoutbox
- game server monitor
- ts monitor

Some of them could be moved to the middle column also. maybe online users?

Thoughts? left, or right?

Buddy list, as Roland said, redundant. Shoutbox, that thing's fun. And the TS monitor might help folks decide what to play, once they see who's on.

I would either move the calendar, buddy list, and users online over to the right (much like the old forums) or just display them only on the main page and not have them displayed at all on the forums page. Oh and just ditch the Buddy List altogether, personally I think it's redundant.

Putting some/all of them on the front page is something we could do... maybe all on front page, then *some* on forum pages?

Is it possible to just have one column..either on the left or right and not have both columns? I am not liking the new look at all as you stated, Bat ,that the forums look smooshed (even on my 21" screen).

I moved modules off to one side. Though the forums under different skins still act oddly.

I also moved avatars to left of post. Streamlines reading a bit but makes the posts wider. Easy enough to switch back.

Now we have room for larger, more annoying avatars! :D

speaking of avatars, is there a way to go beyond the 80x80 pix and possibly allow animated gifs?

sorry for the nagging if this has been asked already!

I call hax! (I didn't see where to do this... at least at first glance :D ).

thx kaga--looks better.

I'm dropping the search box since it's at the top, too.

Animated avatars were enabled, but i did the disable/enable thing just in case. I increased the size to 150x175... what we had before.

the upload may have resized the animations and made them smaller, and static. try again.

Like the one at the top that says new posts? (I didn't notice it either until I went looking for a way to turn that on. heh)

May be in different locations depending on your skin.

Left side thingy I knew b/c when we played with this a while ago. I'll post a screeny in staff forum when I get a chance tomorrow.

If you're not logged in, or when we were having cookie/domain issues, you only see "Today's Posts" which is not quite the same. The vB "new posts" is far superior to the phpBB one, as it shows you what you haven't read, not just new since last visit.

I'm having to log in every time I visit the site and multiple times after I first log in. Also, I have to keep changing the forum skin to the default. I've done it in the User CP but it's not sticking for some reason. Other than those minor inconveniences, I wanted to give you folks another "atta boy" on the site. It's continuing to evolve and the format changes make things look a lot better. Keep up the good work!

I installed a shoutbox. Whatcha think?

mechanisms

It is a tad bit crowded. Anyway you can stretch it down or get rid of the scroll bar?

edit: ** scroll bar on the shoutbox on the main page, not the bottom one on the forums.

Yeah...it's not really meant for a sidebar, more like on the bottom. Honestly I don't even know why it shows on the side on the front page!

I added a bunch of wrigs, I mean monkey, emoticons. They should be the standard stuff with an 'm' in front, like :msad: or :mmad:

I also deleted the broken ones.

We are missing some VSF standards:

It's in advanced reply, not in the quick reply. But I'll look for a hack for it.
