As many of you know, there have been calls of h4x! on the BF2 server lately. Via the PunkBuster utility, we have uncovered and banned 2 players recently -- one whom everyone who plays BF2 probably knows, another was just an unlucky visitor. Both players' info has been sent to PunksBusted for addition to their Master Ban List. Neither of these 2 player incarnations will be able to play on another PB-protected server again.

While the PB SS feature is a valuable tool, it is anything but fool proof or quick. Sometimes it can take significant effort to uncover the "smoking gun". PB (and we) need to obtain conclusive, hard evidence of a hack -- we appreciate the patience MOST of you folks displayed.

In the future, if you suspect someone of cheating/hacking, PLEASE PM an admin/deputy first; DON'T bring it up in the forums, in-game or on TS first -- it would be a shame to scare someone off either:1.) from unfounded accusations or
2.) before an admin get a chance to gather the evidence needed to send to PunksBusted, which will lead thge perpetrator(s) being banned from all participating game servers.Item 2 above is much more satisfying than just sending him/them away from our corner of the world.

I get the feeling there are a lot of new hax out there. This morning I played several rounds, and we lost flags at an alarming rate. In Karkand, I was at the back MEC flag, the flag was at full. I had just wiped out an attack with a Vlodnik. Now note the flag is at full staff. I drove the Vlodnik away, and before I crossed the bridge, the flag was theirs again. That flag is slow to change even with large numbers of people, and I had just checked out the area and found no one.

It's possible, I suppose, I missed someone. But that happened waaay too often and the flags changed waaay too quick to be that simple. Then I saw something that made me wonder and suspicious.

I was a sniper on top of the crane in Oman. We would lose that flag with regularity, but occassionally take it back. I only died once at the end, and I was SL so people would spawn and retake it. But once I was looking down to see who was taking it and where. They were at the base of the crane. One guy. But just as he moved after taking it, I saw a flash of two other guys like they were with him. As he moved, the moment of seeing other people went away. There were people with coop scores in the 50's in Karkaand and Oman.

Like I said, it's possible. But when that high level of performance is consistant, I have to wonder what was going on. We lost by more than 150 points on Karkaand, and most maps by more than 100 points. Even Wake, when I thought we weren't doing too bad as the Chinese during one of the rounds. It just doesn't FEEL right. I've been on teams that have sucked, but this just feels different.

with each new update to the game, many hacks come out, and some older ones, that were erradicated during 1.02 become useable again in 1.03. It'll take some doing, but all we can do is not play or deal with them as they come.

Oh, for sure. I hope I didn't come across as being critical of you guys. All my disgust, frustration, and irritation is aimed at the hackers (and a special circle of hell is reserved for people who run over friendly mines).
