it freaking rocks :D my teams have won 3 out of 5 games ive played, and i get 1350xp for each win, plus ive gotten almost 100 HKs from it too.
heres a bit of strategy ive picked up:
1) Hunters are essential- they are actually 2 players instead of 1 really, so its quite the unfair advantage (possibly warlocks too, but to a smaller extent). They can also place cool traps at the entrances to your base.
2) Stealth (rogues, druids) works well for sneaking in to the base, but of course you lose it if you grab the flag.
3) You should always have at least 2 or 3 guys on defense, especially if they are hunters.
4) The one-way window bay in the flag rooms is a great place to hide if you have the enemy's flag and are waiting for yours to return. A well placed trap can help guard you there too.
5) Attacking in groups works best, especially if you all stealthed your way up there. Have 1 or 2 guys play distraction and/or stun the guards while the quickest guy grabs the flag and runs like hell. If you can manage a healer outside their base to heal him on the way out is a big help too.
And for a lv30+ Druid specific attack plan:
1) stealth your way to their roof.
2) have another player pull distraction, and use war stomp when u jump down to the flag. Note: you cant grab the flag in shapeshift, and if you stealth while holding the flag, you drop it right there.
3) shift to Cat form, then Dash out, hopefully avoiding any major stun attacks on the way.
4) once Dash runs out, quick shift out and then into Travel form and continue to run for your base.
5) try to avoid any of the enemy attacking your base, but they probably wont notice you if they all have their backs towards you (ive seen a few times where a guy runs up the tunnel straight through 4 or 5 attacking alliance players and caps the flag).
I love this addition, but it isnt perfect yet. I think hunters are probably too powerful so far, and the whole wait timer / queue doesn't seem to work very well. It also says being in a group slows down your time, but if you just get out of a match, then your group re-queues for it right away (and so does the alliance), you almost always get in again right away :D

Defense is key. However, defense does not have to be in the flag room. You can defend from outside the tunnels if you can keep youself alive out there.
With a full group, at least 3 should be on D. Best is one hunter, a DPS class (mage is funny to watch them sheep the flag carier) and a healer.
Movement on defense is key. Just like defending the objective in RtCW, if you constantly sit in the same place, they'll plan for that.
It's PvP so know your enemy and your strengths vs them.
Fear is your friend. Many a gang bangs on the flag carrier have been dispersed via psy scream.
Typical priest (me) offensive role:
Escort the attack team in, escort the flag carrier out.
Flag carrying only if absolutely last resort. Priests are squishy and even though inner fire and shield help, priests are far from wariors or druids in AC ratings.
Successful run:
Buff up the flag getter with what you can afford. PW:F is not all that usefull for the amount of mana it costs. But Shadow protection helps.
Meet up outside the opp. base with attack group. Send in rogues and hunters to flush out traps and rogues. (bastige rogues) Follow in the flag getter (should be predetermined) and shield them on the way in. Cast renew right away. Shield yourself.
If there are a lot in the enemy flag room, run in the middle and psy scream and send them running.
Follow flag carier out letting them choose the route.
Keep healing. Renew is best b/c you don't have to stop running.
Shield him whenever you can. Never know when a rogue is nearby.
Let defense and the rest of the team get your flag back if it's lost. Keep that flag carrier alive. They cannot score if they don't have their flag. (nor can you)
Like many team based games, know your role. If you are defense, play your role within that realm. If you are offense, play your role within that realm. And stay in your role unless you announce you are changing so the team can adjust.
No BG is not perfect. Damn fun but not perfect. Killer is you really can't level solely playing BG.

Well, played BG almost exclusively last night. First round we were outnumbered 9-5 and then one of out twits dropped out and we were killing ourselves just to keep our flag. Few minutes later, couple of BG regs joined up and evened out the teams. We won 3-0. The lamer who dropped couldn't get a raid invite in any of the subsequent rounds and thereby lost out on a LOT of HK points. Just an FYI if you screw over your team. ;)

i love that totem hehe
i like to play Defence more than offence as i find im more efective there
i did offence once got the flag and went ghost wolf as soonas i could thank god in y class now one has a mount yet:)
it is fun you definly rack more HK's on offence. im not skilled i usaly thow EB down if im am defendig flagg carrier also Frostbite is good for slowing down some of your
heavy hitter who are after the flag and then arcane to take there next cast away so the cannot slow the flag carrier and also give him a chance to run out of range
my heals are of no use to him as by the time i can cast it thery ae out of range
im not speced in healing so my haling realy sucks in fack iv spent no points in restoration

EB does work best there as it is the ckoke point and also if you can get outside ghost wolf is great

at your lvl and above cant wait should make some really fun matches

GET TO 41!!! :)
I play what is needed. Priests have a good role on both O and D.
On D, keep the DPS guys alive and the enemy either feared or slowed down. Generally, if they get the flag, I'll DoT the carrier, mind flay him, then start scanning my DPS guys for health. Unfortunately, I often forget myself and I'm a prime HK target as if a rogue gets in a stun or other cheap shot, I'm dead before I can heal or shield. Second you kick off mind flay, you're marked.
On O, time your entrance to flag room. Let the heavy AC guys go in, then a count or two later, when D reveal themselves and group on the attackers, drop in and kick off psy scream. (fear) Shield the carrier, cast renew, then watch him for magic or disease and cure as needed. Basically a carrier escort. I have noted one thing, run close right behind the carier and try to be right between him and the chasers. Those that use mouse click to select a target will have a hard time singling the carrier out. Can't tell you how many times I have been charged by a warior during a run back only to have him hit me once and continue on just to lose the carrier b/c he wasted his charge. Of course, the others that are too far behind sweep in and get the easy HK, but we still get the cap.
As far as HK, play midfield D. Talk about keeping you on your toes, damn rogues. :( Just be sure to get in the raid group, you'll get plenty. Got my killer sergeant's cape this week. :)

Tab for close enemies. Alt-tab for close friendlies.
/assist target()
for helping a group member. (I think hehe)
There are also some mods out there that will target mob with lowest health or other criteria. RaidAssist or PartyAssist or something like that. Look through Curse-gaming.
assist is a big help in instance runs. Target your puller, and assist him. That way you never target the wrong mob and get gang banged into oblivion.
