well i dont since i dont have a mac :P but i went w/ my friend out to the apple store tonight b/c he wanted it and a girl at work (who's dad works there) said that they were giving away stuff and i want free apple stuff. theres a huge line down the middle of the mall, and they have 2 security guards doing crowd control, letting only about 8 ppl in every 5 minutes or so, and the store was still packed past fire code i'd imagine.

my ticket was a free itunes song, my friends was 10% off certain purchases- Tiger not included. so he gave it to me too, i bought an additional ipod firewire cable and saved a whopping $1.90 on it

then we went to his place and installed it, not being all that familiar with 10.3, i couldnt notice much difference, but he said everything seemed to run faster, and he really liked the Spotlight search. i think Dashboard is cheesy and unnecessary.

o btw- you can use the same copy on multiple macs ;)

Early reports say it screws up radiant so I won't be diving in for awhile.

That's how I got my iSight, as a door prize at the opening of the Michigan avenue store.

This line along indicates to us you are, at best, new to Macs.

hehe, i was thinking the same thing...

I went last night and unfortunately we only got a free itunes song; well 3 of them actually. the line before 6 was out of control so I took for a while and got some food, then went back and only had to wait about 5 minutes to get in... but the line was long. Oddly, the mall here was having a sale where you got 10% of anything spent back in mall gift certs, so many people were walking out with powerbooks, ipods and displays, then getting 10% back...

i am about to install now, but the review from a friend was that it does seem much faster, though his CPU is running about 10 degrees c hotter so his fans are kicking in a lot more. he says dashboard is cool... perhaps you have to be a mac user to appreciate it fully (like the f9 & f11 keys--always hitting them on windows with no love!)?

be back after install!

ok, dashboard is cool. already some nice widgets, like Dash Monitors. At some point soon I hope to take a stab at writing one. For anyone that doesn't know, they're just HTML/DHTML, CSS and Javascript... pretty easy way to make a 'desktop' application. I'm sure FreeKitty will be happy to have the Flight Tracker next week when I'm out of town.

Spotlight is slick. not that i search my machine that much, but it's the same fast-ness as the itunes search, but for the whole OS and file contents. Neat.

The RSS screen saver is really friggin' slick. I probably wont use it full-time, but another fine example of smooth mac design.

And everything does seem snappier...

Did you do a clean install? That's another bit I'm not wanting to do...

I guess the update fixed the problem with X11 GTKradiant, so I'm about to switch over... anyone had any problems with Adobe CS or Macromedia Studio apps and Tiger?
