When my brother played DaOC, currency seemed difficult to get, especially in the early levels. Is it similar in WoW? Would you ever buy gold from ebay? There are alot of auctions (many for the EU servers) that are selling gold. The people selling on the US servers seem to be charging more (anywhere between $15+) for about 100 gold pieces. Is it that hard to get that people resort to buying gold on ebay?

When playing CoH, it was abit difficult in the beginning to obtain currency but in the later levels, you get so much that you don't know what to do with it. Many high lvl characters have enough to fund all their alts and give to the lowbies.

Professional farming will get you the boot in WoW. They found some 300 accounts and banned them.

I would not purchase gold from ebay. It encourages the prof farmers which detract from the game for the rest of us.

Gold in the early stages is tough but like most games, as your needs grow, so do your opportunities to get more gold.

I'll look tonight what my GPH is. XPH was ~12000 when doing serious questing at level 30, 8-9K XPH at level 20 (shmee).

How do you find these stats? GPH, XPH did I just not RTFM or is this some kind of guesstimation?

I agree with Kaga don't buy Gold from eBay or any of the other game auction sites, just seems like bad karma to me.

once you get your toon up and running I would hold off on upgrading your skills, armor and weapons (with in reason) till you get your mount or what ever you are working for.

I have 17 gold right now and I have not really gone with out anything that I felt that i needed.

Cosmos, enable the clock, mouse over on the clock. Crapload of statistics in there.

You can also enable DPS/fight statistics to display to chat after each fight to see if you're being effective as you can. Then you can tweak how you use your special attacks and stuff.

And, after training, I'm back around 4g I think.

I still think Naz is dealing and not telling us.

You really dont need gold to get the nice gears...you really just save gold for the lvl 40 mount and then once you hit lvl 60, you get to save it up again for that epic 900 gold mount -- yeah, its gonna take AWHILE unless you get REALLY LUCKY with some epic drops that sells for 300+ each.

As for gearing up, you get most of them in the dungeons as they are mostly BoP (bind on pickup meaning they are bound to you only and cannot be traded once its picked up). Spending gold on gears below lvl 60 are a waste IMO..just wait until you hit lvl 60 then spend the gold on that end game weapon/armor.

..just my 2 cents

With my primary toon I have regularly purchased better gear on the AH. Warriors are very gear dependent and cannot run around in armor that is 10 levels below their current level (some exceptions naturally). Others classes will also benefit from the occasional AH purchase. But there is a balance.. if you are pursuing quests that are at or above your level, the end rewards (especially instance runs) will provide pretty sweet gear. You can go a long time without resorting to buying on the AH. Whatever you do, don't waste money buying gear from vendors - their prices are ludicrous.

I would never buy money from cash farmers. Part of the fun of the game is striving to get your money together to buy some sweet item.. or the horse at 40.. or an epic mount... working your character up from scratch is fun.. frankly, its the whole point of the game.
