I have a question, for anyone who's played both. What's the big difference between the two? Is WoW easier to play? Or does it have lower system requirements? Because, and I'm not knocking it, but EQ2 seems to just look better. And before anybody turns this into a piszing war, I'm just curious.

ive started playing both just i n the last few days . yes WoW has lower system requirments and is a bit smoother in play
EQII is IMO alot pretier in game and has just a bit more depth to it butnot a whole lot other wise so far (and i jsut started WoW mind you) they are fairly simler one has PvP and one doesnt (yet) and yes there are more players in wow than EQII
I also like the maturaty of alot of the EQII plaers vrs the WOW (general statment i know not all WoW players are KH's)
but over all i like them both and will probably have to figure out how to share my 80 hour a week plying time on EQII with WoW.

Do not know how EQII is set up but WoW you essentially have your choice of server types with regards to PvP.
PvE - primarily player vs the system but with consentual PvP aspects (raids, duels, attacking NPCs and becoming flagged, etc...)
PvP - Questing and such is the same but once in a neutral area or in enemy territory, you can be swatted like a fly by any opposing faction
role playing - truest form of RPG.

I think the only difference between a PvE server and an RP server is that RP is heavily encouraged on the RP server. You still have raids, duels, and all that... just more people talking in character.
The WoW Battlegrounds expansion sounds intriging. Essentially, its a PvP area with battle skirmishes and control points. If you hold the mines, then your guards have better armor and/or weapons and are harder for the enemy to kill.
I have no idea how any of this compares to what they are doing in EQ2.

ive read several reviews on both games, most give WoW at least a 10% better rating than EQ2 (ie: 9.5/10 to 8.5/10 respectively).
they say that WoW has perfected everything introduced in EQ1, and that EQ2 is just a graphic upgrade mostly.
also WoW is a lot better for newbies and FPS players when compared to EQ2.

well as far as perfected i would say is a bit of a streacth there if they had perfected it there would be no need for new patches
alsoEQII is quite a bit differant than EQI not just in graphgics but in game play and the market and in skills and crafts i dont think that one game is better than the othe. Blizzard has a better marketing team and a better idea of what game should be played by the masses sony i think tried to let just the name ride and did not spend as much as they should have on getting it out there. i mean witch game did you play first warcraft of everquest1?
im sure it was warcraft the name has been around longer it IMO would sell better on just name alone

well i was a total WC2 junkie, i wasted soooo much time on that game, just in SP mode too! i had literally dozens of floppy disks full of custom maps i made and i'd share them w/ my friends. i didnt really like WC1 or 3 that much though.
EQ sucked by the time i played it. and Sony shafted me and billed me for 2+ months that i never even had the game installed on my computer... so i carry a bit of a grudge ;)
so when is UoS coming out? (Universe of Starcraft ;))
