What would be the best Apple Mac for me to get, if I did happen to look into the market?

Basically I'm looking for a desktop system, something that looks dead sexy (nice operating system looks, sexy kicker, smooth transitions etc etc) and is functional enough (not as a gaming system though). And I'm looking for something that won't obliterate my wallet. I tested a G4 notebook in the airport and fell in love with it.

Can anybody make me any recommendations to models? Suppliers/vendors are not required...

There are three basic types of Macs:
- Laptops
- Towers
- iMacs

I won't get into portability as a choice--that's obvious--either you want a laptop or not! Towers are more expandable vs iMacs, and can be generally faster from purchase. Towers have the downside as being slightly more pricey than the iMacs, however. IMO any mac is sexier than a Windows machine :)

What do you want to do with it? Day-to-day use for goofing off, video editing, image editing, learning unix...?

Well, there are really only two desktop systems, the Power Mac G5 tower and the G5 iMac, and no matter what (new) Mac you get, the OS will be the beautiful Mac os 10.3 (Panther).

The tower with one of the new displays would be damn sexy, but may be overkill. The iMac has the entire system built into the display and would be very sweet paired up with the wireless mouse and keyboard. If you went with an airport web connection that could get you down to a single cable into the machine.

I'll prolly be getting the iMac next (after I pic up a shuttle gaming system).
