I played for a couple of days when Fileplanet offered a free trial (a while back). The physics were better than most MMOs (ie, you have to aim), but still ultimately unsatisfying; I particularly disliked the air vehicles. However, this may have changed, and I had limited access to the vehicles (just tried the trainer). Mostly, I think I was daunted by having to learn all their technology, and how the rock-paper-scissors is set up, or what is effective or useless against what. I guess that's what Fantasy MMOs have going for them; everybody is already mostly familiar with the beasts and equipment, thanks to either Masters Tolkien, Vance or Gygax.
On the other hand, dropships are cool. Also, persistent war is cool. I probably didn't really give it a fair shake.
