Just wondering if anybody heard anything about a demo release, and if so, when that might be. I don't have much luck with the official website since they apparently decided to do the whole thing in Flash - and sucking the stuff through my modem connection is just a PITA (besides the server probably getting a major workout right now)

As it has always been with any major release from idsoftware, my PC is somewhere between 6 and 9 months behind in required performance, and I just don't want to spend money on something already that will have to be hidden in the closet for a couple of months.

Also, anything about a possible tin box?

Just wondering if anybody heard anything about a demo release, and if so, when that might be.

id Software's CEO Todd Hollenshead reveals a DOOM 3 demo can be expected after store launch.

"Our priority was finishing the game first and now we are turning our attention to the demo. I don't have any information to share regarding any specific content, but I don't believe that we have ever disappointed in that regard in the past. We will release the demo as soon as it's done, but this probably won't happen until after the game has arrived on U.S. store shelves. "

My system runs it pretty well and I am further behind than you.

P4 - 2.2
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro - 128 MB

Unless something amazing comes along, it's a safe bet that Doom 3 takes "Game of the Year". I would bet there will be a collectable GOTY edition at that point.

Well, I have an XP1800 with 512 MB and 64 MB Radeon 8500... If I can believer the PC Gamer, my video card is the major problem right now, and the lack of CPU power only adds to the problem :(

The 8500 is the lowest end card Doom3 supports. You do exceed the 294MB RAM and 1700 minimum processor, but not by much.

Yeah, I am going to agree with them. This is definitely the most video intensive game I've ever played on this system and though it runs pretty well, I suspect that anything with lower specs than what I have is going to be choppy.

I had it too. I think a lot of people did. It played pretty awful and the graphics were nowhere close to the retail version.

Doesn't need batteries. It uses the Faraday induction principle. The halls are all spools of copper, and your armor is highly magnetic.
