Now you can play your iTunes on your home stereo. They have a new widget which is essentially a 802.11g wireless router with a jack for your stereo, and you can play your iTunes to your stereo. Way cool.

wow sounds like its worth $130
if i was that hardcore at it, (and stupid enough not to convert the propriatary files to some other format), i'd get a central media server or something.

Paid tunes from iTunes site no.
But who downloads from the iTunes site anyway?
 I do. I always said that if they developed a pay mechanism for downloading songs, and the price was good, I would do it. There really isn't an excuse now for pirating artists work.

There never really was.
I'm not fan of the RIAA, and I've downloaded songs where I subsequently bought the CD, and their claims of losses due to downloading are pretty much absurd.
However, there are those who spend all day with their friends downloading songs and burning CD's, and I have no sympathy for them, either, when the RIAA comes after them. It's a fight where there really aren't any good guys.
Yeah, rock stars are rich. Yeah, the RIAA is rich. But it's amazing how many kids who have college paid by their parents and drive nice cars (again, paid for by their parents) take the time to point that out to me.

iirc, there's actually a way to convert AAC to MP3, but I don't really do very much with music, so I'm not up on how. I just remember it being a bit of a hack.

its called using iTunes to burn a cd, then ripping it once its complete.
and i d/l from iTunes, its well worth it for quality, virus-free songs that you get to sample first so you can tell whats what.
and ive always been a big proponent (sp?) of pirating music, not to screw the artists, but to screw the labels and suits. the artist will make the same, their pay depends on their popularity, talent, and potential. the CEOs paycheck comes from sales figures. charging upwards of $15 for a CD is and always has been rediculous.

You can stream your mp3s through your Tivo, if you have one.
But you gotta admit, the packaging on that sucker is pretty nice!
One reason I think I should be allowed to share/download mp3s is that I have a *ton* of records and tapes, and it'd be nice to be able to pull down some songs from them in mp3 rather than having to invest in hardware to hook up to the pc (like, a record player)--or pay for those songs again. The quality pulling from record would suck, too--but I couldn't afford CDs when they were out early because they artifically kept prices high.
But see how far that argument goes in court.. though I suppose I could plop down a pile of records with those songs on 'em...

This is one of the other arguments that I have read for why the record industry is actually seeing their profits going down (instead of placing the blame on file sharing). With the advent of CDs and everyone replacing their tapes and LPs, the industry saw an artificial rise in purchasing... now that more crap is being released and less ppl are replacing their tapes and LPs... profits begin to shrink.... ah, but this was all discussed in another thread...
