Second link was broken.

Looks good, I wonder if it's using the Far Cry engine?

Whoops, fixed the link.

I haven't picked up on which engine they're using yet.

Here's an article on it, with a few more screenies: http://www.ugo.com/channels/games/features/brothersinarms/default.asp

is it based on BoB? it does look really good, the char models are astounding. dunno what a new WW2 FPS can really bring to the table though...

There is a video from E3 that is worth the 115 MB download. Appears to be an incredible game.

IMO, it seems as though it will feel nothing like CoD. The only similarities I see is the fact it's WW2, the gun sights (which you actually have to consider using with Thompsons, unlike CoD) and areas like Carentan. That models' faces and eye movements, and the Naval bombardment on Carentan had me 8O .

Agreed. I don't see very many similarities to CoD, especially considering the tactical aspect of fire and assault teams. The tactical enemy AI was pretty impressive. Immersive graphics, sound, and gameplay could make this a very intense game. Of course, I'll probably need to upgrade my computer to enjoy it.... :sigh:

If it has that sort of aiming down the sight like CoD I will surely pick this one up. The arcade style crosshairs of BF and Wolf are a bit old for me sometimes I guess.

I like cheese.

I don't think I can play another WW2 shooter without the aim-down-sight feature. It simply adds so much character to the guns, instead of having some imposed recoil on crosshairs painted on the screen.

Speaking of which, anyone ever play the infiltration mod for Unreal Tournament? That had some interesting ideas. Especially the "free-aim" zone in the center of the screen.

Ubi? OMG! No way! Won't touch that until it's actually running the way it's supposed to... Too much trouble waiting for patches from those morons.

Hmm. just watched the trailer. Can't say I'm terribly impressed. The characters models looked a bit blocky and the action didn't seem very smooth . (comparing to COD:UO)

Oh, and combined release for console and PC. That doesn't bode to well. There's just too much difference between PC FPS's and console FPS's. You invariably have to sacrifice certain elements to get it working on both.

Oh well, hopefully more info gets out. The website didn't seem to have muchon it.

"Based on a true story" -- Yes, WW2 did happen folks!. :D

Actually, its not so much the graphics I am interested in. I am interested to see how they pull off the fire and assault team squads. They seem to be focusing on tactics as much as straight FPS action which seems like it could work well if they do it right.

Looks like it. Just depends on how much time they spend on scripting and AI behaviour. I don't think anyone's come up with a halfway decent "self-preservation/fear" AI behaviour. Whatever they do, I hope they don't resort to the "infinite enemy syndrome" -- where the enemy keeps spawning until you move forward.

The E3 video gives an excellent overview of the game. Take a look at it here (http://www.igster.net/hosted/video/Brothers in Arms - E3.avi). It is a large file, around 115 MB.

Yeah, I didn't like that much in CoD... just move forward if you can, get your guys to advance. I'd love it your team wouldn't move without you, and if you waited too long they'd hunker down, every now and then one of them gets all whimpering and scared and you have to get to him and hit the "berate" key, otherwise he gets left behind (kind of like in Abe's Exodus...).

Berate key huh? I used the "line up useless AI with target and shoot" trick myself. :melee: :kh:

Berate is a new choice--Execute would still be available as a choice ("E" key). After the first batch of executions you just have to raise your gun and look menacing ("M" key) at the rest for most of the rest of them to get to work.

update: game is all realistic the makers went to the places and took pictures. but its the real story of the 101st durinmg the first eight days of the drop into normandy. The troops react to the situation at hand, i.e. if a man dies someone will fall back to check on him, or if your kill a kraut theyll talk trash.
