View Full Version : Winamp 5.02
Not sure what everyone uses for playing/organizing their media files but I have been a fan of Winamp for years. The newest version is a step beyond anything they have offered in the past. It has some really great features as well as a sharp interface. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a media player or don't like the one you currently have.

Gonna have to check it out as I hate the way WMP has a huge gap between songs even though there is 0 white space at the beginning/end of the songs.
I mix a bit of my own stuff and the player that's with the mixer does it great but it's bad at media management.

i use that to rip my cds, but not to play anything. i should mention that i still use wmp to play audio cds and dvds (although i rarely do either on my pc)

ok i just d/l winamp5, and heres a warning:
it no longer supports .b4s playlists!!!!!!! at all!
i had all of mine in m3u on version2, then had to change them all to b4s on v3, now i gotta change them all again!
just a warning!
also it seems bigger. and even though it says it supports some older themes, most of mine crashed it. :sigh:

Hmm. I'm leary of trying WinAmp5. I remember installing version 3 and had so many problems (and useless features) that I went back to version 2. From what I hear version 5 is just version 2 and version 3 code combined...
I completely agree. Version 3 was total crap. It did have a ton of useless glut and I hated it for that. Besides, it ran like crap. This does have many of the version 3 "features" but it also has been updated enough in other ways to make it worthwhile. Besides, it's free so downloading and trying it is basically a no risk proposition.

anime themes are mostly done by the sloppiest people around. wouldn't surprise me if it crashed with those. even so, i love the new winamp, winamp 3 sucked.

Yup, I grabbed this puppy during my ill timed OS reinstall a couple weeks back. Much less of a hog tham version 3, while being much nicer looking too.
On a related note, I've tried many, but still fail to find one that's truly all that good, can anyone recommend a nice MP3 ID tagger. I've got quite a few MP3's that were improperly or never tagged with ID3 info. For extra credit, recommend one that tagged ID3 ver2 as well.
Thanks!

you can do it yourself through winamp or just the properties of the file. of course thats really time consuming...
