So i installed it. It is givng me an odd graphics problem.
I thought it might be the refresh rate. I played it at 800x600 32 bit 80-120 mhz. Always the same result. It is like there are lines accross the screen. Now I have a radeon 9700 and 1 gig of ram on a 1.4 athlon tbird. Never had any problems before. It is liek a comb filter is failing or soemthing.
any ideas?
it is a little laggy too. soemtimes it kind of pauses. Not lag, jsut skips an input for some reason. No probs with any other games.

Did you install patch 1.6 for BF1942 first? Just asking just in case, not that I know if it hasn't anything to do with anything...aww crud it's late I dunno

I've started getting a strange lag like this, too. I got an ATI 9600 XT a couple of weeks ago, installed the new patches, and just recently turned my BF detail level up to 'High'. I don't know which, if any, of these changes is the culprit, but I try to mix as many factors into a problem as I can.
Anyhow, I've always had a slight graphics lag at the start of a round in BF; I just do the twirly dance for a couple of seconds and it would smooth out. Now, this jumpiness lasts for several minutes. I'll get a pause (from less than a second up to 3 or 4 seconds) when the whole shebang just STOPS (sometimes I'll have and audio loop). When it comes back, my tank is stopped or I've flown into the ground (I don't think it's normal 'lag', and my buddies see nothing). One night, it was extraordinarily bad, every 20 seconds or so. Finally, BF crashed to desktop. I went to restart, and was told cthelper.exe was failing to respond. CThelper.exe is a Creative TSR for my Audigy2, and there are mixed reports as to its purpose. I tried disabling it on startup, and my joystick suddenly was unable to rudder to the right!!! Weird! Anyway, I reenabled it, and I think I'll try turning some of the details back down in BF. The freezes kind of seem to happen the first time things are 'seen', like explosions, shooting various projectiles.
Anyway, this isn't much help to you probably, but misery loves company I guess. I'm miserable.

Jeez - every time I think about scrapping the old Ti4200, a new thread pops up about this card or that card having problems/lags/dizziness/vomiting/loss of consciousness/coma.
Maybe good luck has a part to play here, but I almost never have the types of issues here. I'll just wait for the PCI-X MoBos/cards to come out.
New technology = no problems, right?

Exactly!! I think all the time of getting rid of mine, but I've never once had a problem. I run at full-settings, all on highest possible, and not once have I encountered a problem in any game I've ever played.
I think I'll hold on to it just a little bit longer.
