Sorry. I took it down as it began to fill up around 10AM Pacific...again. We are using bandwidth like crazy, and it is putting the servers existence at risk.

The Dome is on the downlow, so if we use too much bandwidth, it will draw attention to us. I know that sounds kinda dumb, but it is the way it is. I never imagined the Dome filling up all day long without any regs, but it does every single day.

I would have put it back up tonight, but had "family duties" to perform. I will try and get her back up by 4:00PM PST. That should leave plenty of time for regs to get some good frag time in.

Sorry about the inconvenience, but I am trying to keep the Dome up for as long as possible so we can enjoy our BF time.

John, would it be an option to just run it at night? Shut it down during business hours and up at night... I realize that is probably a lot of work. I wonder if there is a routine that can run to boot it up and shut it down...

I'm thinking we should do just that. This server only exists for the regs, so I have very little motivation keeping it alive for strangers.

Negative, cause then it would only be regs on. Sure, there are many regs who frequent it, but not enough to make it fun all the time. Some nights I hop on all alone with 25 strangers and have great games. Other nights it's just a few regs and still 20+ strangers. Password protecting it would be like running a 24/7 FOG with only 10 people at best. YAWN  Shutting it down from say whenever the west coast homies cut out till when the east coast homies hop on would work fine.

If it's windows or Unix/Linux, let me know. Either myself or someone here should be able to script something very simple and provide any tools needed to schedule it.

We'll put that @$#@ Duck to work. :)

FWIW - Just browsing the stats at how much I suck and found this.

Granted, most important part is not getting yelled at by the network nazis but if you want to check out general usage trends...

BFSM has a scheduler built into it. Alas, when 1.6 comes oot, you won't be able to use it.

You could password protect it during the day and when an admin gets home they could remove the password protection at night effectively keeping off strangers during the day but allowing regs to play when they want.

Well, the problem with BF is that the server managers never act the way you want them to. I don't know what they use on T-Dome, but I hear them complain as much as we did with BlackBagOps for CCM. You change a setting and either it takes or it doesn't. And if it does, who knows if it'll change back when you want it to or not.

It's like the guy who invented Dungeons & Dragons is out there rolling 13 sided dice for the fate of the Server.
