I played this mod (named CoDMax, if you never read the title) the other day, it rocked! It has the shell shock feature like in the single player. It turns off crosshair for realism but I guess the admin decided to leave it at Reflective Friendly Fire which isn't realistic. I do love the Shell Shock feature, it gives the game a whole new meaning and reminds me of the excitment I felt when I played the demo of dawnville before buying the game.

Oh btw, I posted something on the Swap Meet forum regarding pc mouse. My mouse is dying... and so is my pwnage for CoD

Do u have to DL the mod, or is it a server that's running it. I too have played a realism mod that includes shellshock, i like the feature.

I didn't have to download anything before joining the server, as for downloading off that server when I join (maybe? I wouldn't know).

how do you guys add your text after the quote? when I tried to quote wrigs' message, the window was full.

I really like the thought of no corsshair, encouraging people to use the gun sights. Too often I see people get away with shooting from the hip at distance (mostly on other servers).

one of the mods I'd really like on the server is that grenade fuse mod. Gives each grenade a 3 or 4 second fuse so you can hold them and time the release. It gives an added element to gameplay. Some of you guys that played over on UGC server will rememeber. It's a server side mod so Menzel would have to set it up for us. *hint hint*

Neat. 'Cooking off' grenades was one of the coolest features of America's Army. It can make things much more difficult for door campers; no time for them to dodge if you have the guts to hold the thing long enough. AA also had flashbangs, which were handy with this tactic, too.

even more fun when ya hold it too long. :D

Yeah you could do it in Medal of Honor too. Which is the game I came from before COD. I'll try to dig up a link to this mod and post it soon.

[edit]
Ok guys check this out. Here is the nade cooK_off mod. I uploaded to my rogers webspace. Somebody with access to the COD server FTP or whatever needs unzip it and place the pk3 file into the /Main directory of COD. I tested it out on a standalone server and it works just fine. No other game variables are changed. Adds about a 4-5 sec fuse. PLease upload this. :)

Bug the server admins. If they see enough requests they'll send me an e-mail and then we'll put the mod up for some playtesting :)

I would suggest finding and posting a link to the site that offers the original pk3 or mod rather than hosting it yourself. There are a couple of reasons:
1. We don't know if you have a 'tainted' copy of the pk3. Someone may have modified it.
2. We don't have a readme file or other info describing exactly what the pk3 does and how it is used.
3. We don't know who to contact if there is a problem.
4. We don't know where to get updates.
5. We don't know the known bugs or conflicts with the pk3.

All that being said, I would like the ability to cook grenades. Timing those throws in RtCW and ET was an essential skill. That CoD doesn't have it is kinda strange since they used the RtCW codebase to build off of. Their vision clearly did not include it - I have to wonder why...

I don't think the red dot crosshair is a particularly good idea though. I would stick with the in-game crosshair. We don't have lasers on our weapons.

With any luck we can find a mod that has all of these things built in. One thing to consider is that there is often a clientside download of the pk3s required. This can be automated but some people may have it turned off andit would require more bandwidth (or a separate d/l location). While many gamers have no problem with finding a mod or pk3 on their own, many are new to the gaming community and are little too lost to find things on their own (b00ns!). I like to think we are a good place for the newer players to come because we actually answer their questions and don't complain about their lack of skills. Remember, today's n00b is tomorrow's 1337 h4X0|2 . . .

Hey Dawg, Reason why the mod is like that is because I took it from the PRM realism mod. I tried hard to find a mod which was only nade cook off but all of them were part of a larger mod. So to simplify things I downloaded the PRM realism and took out everything except I left the Nades. The file is fine and works flawlessly. All that needs to be done is upload. Don't worry I'm trustworthy.

Here's the link to PRM realism. Unles you intend to use the whole realism mod, You'll just end up doing what I already did but it has the readme and all that good stuff.

Regarding the red dot xhair, I can live without. Been playing for awhile now and have finally gotten used to the extracting crosshair.

Shell shock mod sounds awesome. Find us a link. Maybe we can test that one out too. I think the shootthe gun out of hands is included in PRM realism so that may be the mod to give some careful consideration. Just some suggestions my friends :D

I installed the shellshock mod on the server just now, looks pretty cool.

I'm gonna take a look at some other mods out there see if anything is worth trying out.

Isn't there a mod somewhere that doesn't allow NV's gun to fire?

There has to be.

Hey Menzel

This might interest you, CYG (Crazy Yoda Games) Realism V1.0. I've played on a server using this, it absolutely rocks.

Features that I remember:
-Shellshock (from nades, bullets, falling from high altitude)
-Only 1 (cookable) grenade per person (I think you can change this)
-You can shoot weapons out of your enemies' hands and they would look like they've lost their contact lenses and fumble for it.

It's hilarious to lose your weapon especially when you're sniping thru a window or to see somebody else loses their gun. The evil part is that you can also go ahead and grab their weapon and they would be stuck with a pistol/nade/nothing. I lost my bren on mp_ship and I was on one of the highest deck sniping with my pistol for 1 kill before they took me out. Hilarious!!!

It appears that it's very popular mod for Spearhead and MoHaa.
I wonder if it's the same mod for those games placed into the server. I wouldn't know.
Here's the link:

I really recommend it. :idea

The Grenade cook-off mod, we all would like it on the server if it's not too much trouble. I've uploaded it for you to test.

Shellshock mod is good - it adds a new dimension to the game. However, I freeze up for a few seconds any time I'm coming out of the shock (just as the whistling starts). Next thing I know I'm dead, especially in maps with a lot of CQC. :(

Anyone else experience this?

From what I've read the grenade cook mod is also client side, so if we use that we'll have to push it with autodownload to players who connect and don't have it. I'll download it today and check it out!

Thanks dude. My only experience with the grenade mod was with the UGC server. It appeared to be a server mod. I don't recall needing to download anything to have it work, I could be wrong. Anyhow, I do appreciate you testing it. Hopefully if all goes well, we'll see it on the server. Been working a new job so my playing time has been limited but I hope to play soon. Take care all :)
