Well since I refuse to install TS on my computer, I welcome anybody who has ventrilo to join the vent server I frequent all the time.
IP: ventrilo.senkrad.ca
pw: spacewalker
Of course, not trying to rob VSF of people chatting on their VSF TS server.

Why the refusal? Just curious . . . :|

I was going to ask the same thing. It's like, what? 46 Kbytes or something?

Actually I have plans to test out Vent but I have not had enough time to mess around with it. Maybe now that the holidays are over I will get around to it.

Ventrillo is actually a really good program. Of course i'm basing that one going from Roger Wilco to Ventrillo. Lots of good options.

A Ventrilo bigot, eh? I ran into a lot of those when I was active in Counterstrike.
I'm not really sure which is technically superior; I've got both, and have used them extensively. I briefly chatted with Nazgul about Vent when I was getting the TS address from him; we concurred that any real benefit from switching would be completely vanquished with the effort of moving the current userbase.
The cool thing about Ventrilo, to me, is the Text-to-speech features. It uses the MS TTS SDK to read information to you. This is most useful while playing a game; one hear's 'MASH has joined the channel' instead of 'User has joined the channel'. You can also post comments that are read out, Mr. Roboto style. As you can imagine, this can become tiresome...
The tricky part about Ventrilo is their licensing scheme. Some hosts just don't want the headache of figuring out the nuances of 'Professional Use'.
I will agree that either is superior to Roger Wilco.
Also, if you haven't thanked Naz lately, you should. A server like his is an indispensable resource to a gaming community.

BTW, DSK's Vent server is at: www.gamequest.net, port 3784.
It's empty (DSK uses TS), but there are channels set up; feel free to monkey around there.

Yes, I can't imagine playing Call of Duty without TS. The game is great as it stands, but Naz's TS server adds that extra special flavor that we all enjoy. Or that could be the thick stench of an unwashed Puppy, not sure.

Nothing against TS but it's a personal thing and it's not even because I don't like TS it's because I already have vent. I already have tons of programs loaded and my windows menu goes to 2 columns. I hate that and I hate adding programs when I don't need to. That's basically all, but I really like the text-to-speech system of ventrilo, it's so darn fun at times, especially if you can't talk (gf/wife is sleeping) you can always type out what you want to say and others can hear you (of course you can't be in CoD unless you run it as windowed mode)

Well, Bokchoi, this crew has suffered through Roger Wilco and various other clients/servers and TS has by far been the best fit for functionality and clarity... except in LionRampant's case. But I think that is his Scottish brogue that no one can understand.
We have already made the rounds with other clients and landed on TS.

Hey, just because we pronounce words the way they should be. Jeez, it's like you guys have two syllables for each vowel.

Actually, I rather enjoy hearing people speak in accents. Especially women. Seriously, having grown up around people who had accents (grandparents and their contemporaries), I rarely have a problem understanding someone through an accent.
