So last night I was playing ona random public ET server with PB running, and there were two guys (names were "**** in your ear" and "Cid") who were doing really well. In fact, it was unreal how quickly **** was able to react to me showing up around corners.
Well, at one time, *** asks in global, "Hey Cid, you using ******?" (Name obscured to prevent proliferation.) It turns out they were talking about hacks and they were using two different ones. I did a search in google on it and found a site with descriptions of hacks and which work with what PunkBuster versions. It turns out that this one was a wall-hack and an aimbot, but it was clever in that it had code to prevent spectators from immediately being able to tell. It would start firing the gun and move it slowly to the head with some error rate. That way the motion would not be an obvious aimbot, but it was designed to kill the person faster than they could kill you. It could track targets through walls with this, and knew not to start firing until you were in view. It also could recognize ungibbed vs gibbed bodies and would not fire on the truly dead.
So next time you think someone is cheating, they just might be. One just has to shake one's head ruefully at these no-talent ass-clowns.
