Well, since you asked... it is a departure from the way the game is intended to be played. Many players who prefer historic war FPS games like Wolfenstein and ET and BF and CoD tend to like their action realistic. The gravity variables were put into the engine because it is based on Quake, not exactly the realistic gamer's cup of tea.
Also, for many players who are not around us much or are unfamiliar with such variables get turned off. They think it is some kind of cheat they are not privvy to. If you remember the issue with NV on the CoD server with the mod download... same kind of dynamic.
The zero gravity sessions on wolf were a nice departure after playing to a stalemate after three hours... relieved the monotony a bit... and most of the players were server regs, too.
I think I set gravity to a low number maybe once or twice. I was constantly bugged by the kiddies for me to do it... Killer, PsychoSnowman and others.
I just don't find it particularly enjoyable... especially when you are knuckled down on CoD trying to get into the flow of the game, which is pretty difficult with OLTL.

every once in a while it can be amuzing, but not all the time. If it turned out to be once or twice every night, i'd just populate another server. I remember when we played with the wolf settings during the end of FOG's and those were fun times...but those were at the tail end of a FOG when everyone had played a couple hours and everyone needed a good laugh at the end.
I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it the first time, but after that I wanted to throttle somebody. When you've got someone in your crosshairs and are just about to snipe them, and you side step to the left to clear your line of sight, only, your step just so happens to be lower than where you previously were.....no more scope action and you just died because you had to hip shoot Puppy with a sniper rifle at 25 metres while his lawn mower just turned your kidney's into pate.

I agree with JT & SK... once in a while it's fun, but that's about it.
However sometimes playing CoD I wish it moved a bit faster, but, that's just me wishing more games were like RTCW :D

The Behind Enemy Lines and Team Deathmatch move pretty quickly because you can respawn. The OLTL games like S&D and Retrieve are a little slower paced because only idiots like me run headlong into a well defensed position... only to watch the rest of the match unfold through the POV of everyone else.

haha! I do the same thing... which is why I like respawning games better. I feel like I accomplished something if I can last over a minute...
I always played RTCW/ET with the idea that if I ran into the well-defended position with a PF or grenade, I could open it up for the surviving guys behind me. Doesn't work so well in CoD :(

I don't mind if you guys charge around corners without peaking. Easier to hit in the head with that way. Danke.

zero grav is great when there are not alot on, or if it only happens like once a week. but i prefer to have my feet on the ground. and that is even hard to do with no gravity.

the server settings are there for everyone's enjoyment of the game. settings SHOULD NOT be changed period!!
like jt and sauer have mentioned if a FOG rolls around and it's "fun" time by all means but other than that i disapprove.
