What game? DC/BF has been known to do this. Turning down the sound quality helps.

Try Kaga's suggestion first; if that works, yer done.
I have an Audigy card also; I have read conflicting inputs from different users/sources regarding hardware acceleration. Some say using it causes lag problems, others say not using it causes lag. :?
If turning down the sample rate doesn't do it, toggle your HW acceleration selection and give that a try.

eh?
Well that sort of makes sense. Using HW acceleration will decrease lag if you're off-loading all the basic sound processing to the sound card. However if you start using HW acceleraion for things like EAX, or stero expansion etc. then yeah., it will increase lag.
Passmark makes a program called soundcheck you may find useful (I didn't) (http://www.passmark.com/download/index.htm)

Yes. I went from 512 to 1gb and it's a HUGE performance boost especially for BF.
BTW - DC .6 is admittedly a laggy release b/c they released it w/o optimizing a lot of the textures.
