The complete and utter disregard for a competitive game of Secret Weapons has me thinking about putting my SW disk in the garbage can. The fact that so many players just like to have a round of whoring for their personal enjoyment rather than creating a competitive environment is nothing less than lame. For a few straight rounds, one side was completely shut out, while the other side had a stacked team, sometimes and overly stacked (# of players wise) team. Should I have said, "even the teams? You all know what would happen then, an outcry of "oh, they only just now went uneven" followed by "whaa, you're just whining cause you're being owned" Yup, we certainly were being owned, and though the teams had been uneven from the moment the score was 100-50 all the way down to 96-0, 2 straight rounds, I decided to just abstain from complaining there, to rant here.
How so many respectable players can not make an effort to make for a fun game is beyond me. Yeah, certainly we all want to be on the winning team, but to be on the team that ALWAYS wins....well, that's just too New York Yankees like for me.

Yeah sponge it frustrated me to the point of quitting also....4-5 snipers on the back of the ridge on the map where you blow up the three vents :x no matter how many times you explain to them...they seem to think all flags are important....some yes..most no.......

want some cheese with this whine??

when i came onto the server it was eagle's nest and allies were down 6 players. i asked to even the teams and i think only 1 reg bothered switching. in the end they got pwned because they focused on assaulting the main spawn instead of playing defense.

some maps are just too unbalanced. that guided rocket thingy is a hoot and i use it to continually to shoot down the mobile spawn. big plane dead=no six guys parachuting down on my objective. i felt bad continually shooting lil puppy but killing chablis over and over was quite satisfying. on most maps if that rocket isn't taken out in the first 2 minutes of a round it will be an extremely long round for the allies (especially if the axis has someone who knows how to use it).

i was DEFENDING not whoring.

As a rule of thumb I never ask people to 'even the teams'. If I notice that the teams are uneven I just note the disparity in chat (e.g. "16v11?"). If people don't respond by switching sides I'll do it again. But too many n00bs are quick to bark out "teams!" when things aren't going their way. Therefore, many folks dismiss those messages as whining even if its a legitimate compaint...

State the numbers and let it go. If it persists, modify it to "Still 16v11"... if people are still refusing to swap teams to even things up, maybe its time to find another server. Or you could specifically invite their best players to switch sides to prove their 1337ness on both sides... (e.g. "Hey <name>, why don't you join us and pwn those jokers?") :)

Who said anything about you, NV? If you read my post again, I said "respectable players"

NV just wanted to keep killing me, that's the reason it was lopsided. The others were collateral damage.

I feel your pain. I had an typically unsatisfying round of Berlin last night, fruitlessly trying to get out of that alley spawn. The enemy would continually park Hummers (or stupid Instant Rambo MG's) at the alley mouth and rack up kills; God forbid anyone actually try to Capture The Flag.

Regarding uneven teams, I generally resort to ironic mockery; I agree that 'Teams!' is usually ignored.
Try:
'Need more <Larger team>?'
'The teams are uneven. Can a couple of <Smaller team> players switch to <Larger team>?'

The first Eagle's Nest rounds I played were pretty heinous. I tried to put a positive spin on it ('we can kick their butts even though we're outnumbered 15 - 10' kinda crap), but I too ended up leaving; I did come back later to a more balanced set of rounds. The UFO map rounds were excellent.

One of the big contributing factors earlier on, IMO, was the influx of folks that had just gotten SW for Xmas and/or had no clue what an Objective Mode map was. Virtually every round someone asked "Where's the jet packs?" and "What are them-there big red circles fer on my map??"

There were many, many players kicked - a higher percentage than 'normal' - and more than a few banned for some blatantly atrocious shizznit.

It was not a normal night of play by any means, SB. Don't throw out the CD with the bathwater. :|

True, there were an unbelievable number of boneheads out last night. First night on SW and I watched this one guy tk someone for a jetpack, then get in a plane and last a whole 20 seconds before he crashed it. Rinse repeat, repeatedly, until he got himself banned.

ADD is a real problem for some people, but there are some very good medications on the market. :P
