No..you don't but judging by everyone contributing recipes and input/interest their is an inner desire to at least try...
First off the pay stinks. It will take you years and alot of sweat to make any money at this gig. You can expect to make just above minimum wage for your first 10 years while being verbally abused and overworked by your bosses. 12 hour days 6 days aweek are the norm. The work during service is stressful and political correctness , equal rights and such are tossed out the window....things are said that would get you sued at any other job....behind air traffic controllers and policemen the hospitality industry has the highest divorce rate , and alcoholism(drug abuse) I could be wrong but last time I checked it was right up there...well if you would like to know the inner workings of the industry and the making and lifestyle of an awful lot of chefs this book is a must read..its funny , shocking (to those outside the industry) My neice gave it to me for christmas(i already had it and read. it..posted it on CCM also) But a very good read........
