He spelled it Mary Chrismas. Sounds like a porno star.

Hehe.. the folks welcoming JT back to life reminds me of something similar that happened last week at work.

Someone made the mistake of sending an email to everyone in our business segment (not sure how many people, but it must be several thousands spanning sites across the US). It was a request to remove someone from a discussion list because they had retired/died/been fired/turned into a pumpkin (doesn't really matter why they left). I snickered to myself (whatta n00b, sending to everyone in the segment, *snicker*) and deleted the message. The next day someone does a reply-all to the message announcing that they had received the message in error and requested to be removed from the list as well. A few others send "ditto for me" as well; naturally, they quote all of the previous messages while they are at it. Finally, someone points out that - 1. The initial message was an error, there is no list to be removed from, 2. please don't reply-to-all when you really need only contact the original sender. Naturally, there are a half dozen more "ditto for me" messages in this one's wake - simply ignoring his advice. The wise one, or someone equally frustrated with the dozens of "ditto-for-me" messages clogging their inbox, then types it all again, IN BIG RED LETTERS... A few more "ditto-for-me" messages follow, but its clearly tapering off.... until... someone tries to do a single reply but hits "reply to all" - their message was none-too-friendly, so they had to follow it up with an apology. The "ditto-for-me" increased a little and then tapered off again...

Moral of the story? Please take a moment to think whether you really should be sending your message to more than one person.

It amazes me that:
a) this is still so prevalent, and
2) so few people realize you can customize your Outlook icons (assuming it's Outlook) to move/delete the "Reply to All" button.
