The Dome is baaaack baby! Good games all around. Now we just have to get some other people to pick up SW and try it out for themselves. Like MASH said, it's a whole different game in objective mode.

And kudos to Porky for whoring it up big time tonight. He was a killing machine! http://iggy.dnsalias.com/images/smilies/Blasting_anim.gif

Crazy HobBot asked last night, after probably the 5th straight round of the Allies being shutout by the Axis, if the Allies always lose. No, was the overwhealming response. Though last night, after those rounds, you'd never believe it. Fact is, SW Objective requires far more teamwork, especially for the Allies, then conquest mode. One preson can take a flag and often defend it for a while on maps like Lost Village and the like, but one engie, has a hell of a time trying to destroy the objective alone. They get a crappy firearm, but have the TNT. One engie, along with an assault class soldier, and a medic, can really do well though. Often the defending Axis will be engineers too, as they can repair the damaged objective. So they usually can be over powered quickly by a singel soldier working with an attacking engineer.
One tactic to try while defending, choose another class other than engineer, especially if you have others defending who already are engies. But, if your objective is damaged, and you take out an enemy engineer. Grab his weapon, you'll know have the wrench, do some repair and take your own weapon back. If you see enough disgarded weaponry around, you may be able to go through quite a bit of your own teammates and enemy weaponry to fully repair one or more of the objectives.
This works offensively too, if you're attacking as something other than an engie, and your teammate goes down, take his gun, use his TNT. But only Allied engineers get TNT.
On many maps, a tank or bomber can make short work of the objective, not just dyno. Maps like Telemark Research facility and Kbely Airfield are tougher for this tactic, the objectives are indoors, though there is a small opening on both to fire a tank round through, but it's not easy, and with so many defending engineers, you are landmine bait, big time.
Lastly, concentrate your offensive efforts on one target at a time. 50% damage to two targets, still leaves plenty of opportunity to repair. all that damge on one target, leaves it destroyed and no repair can be done, the Axis are toast.

No NVmyNatterBot left shortly after you...quite surprised at how many were on and stayed on late :D

Then that answers your question. When I switched to Allies, it was either him teamed with Rob Roy or Hobbot's über 1337 K48 (or whatever the heck it is) killing me when I got close to any obj.

Actually that round the Allies won and every round afterwards was pretty darn close and much more competitive then it had been. Don't get me wrong I was having fun the entire time!

Nice pointers too! I'm just starting to get into the tactical groove of the SW objective which is probably why I felt overwhelmed. One thing I do know is those allied transport planes are crucial!

I had a great time on the Dome last night...I bought SW a few weeks ago but last night was really the first time I had much fun playing it....objective mode makes quite a difference!....I was very impressed with the turn out ...especially for the first real night of gaming on the Dome.

I'm not quite used to the strategies as of yet....but I started to get the hang of it before I left!....As for the Allied transport plane... I so wanted to steal that thing on telemark...all that time running up the hill ...only to arrive right when your whole team spawned in it.

Thanks FXers and XFXers for the objective goodness!
